DotRot runs entirely in your browser. The images you open are never sent to us or to anyone else, because there is no server to send them to.

Your images

When you open an image, your browser reads it from your own disk and processes it locally. Nothing is uploaded. We never see your files, and we could not retrieve one if we wanted to. Closing the tab discards the image.

Exported files are written straight to your downloads folder by the browser. They do not pass through us.

What is stored on your device

DotRot keeps a small amount of data in your browser's local storage. This stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is never transmitted:

• Saved slots — the looks you save, stored as settings values only. No image data.
• Interface preferences — which panels are open, and whether you are in Basic or All mode.

Clearing your browser's site data for this domain removes all of it. Use Export All in the look gallery to keep a copy of anything you care about.

Share links

Copy Link encodes your settings into the address itself. The settings travel in the link and nowhere else; no record of it is created here. Bear in mind that a link you share reveals the settings it contains to whoever receives it. It never contains your image.

Fonts

The page requests two typefaces from Google Fonts. That request tells Google your IP address and browser details, as any request to any server does. It is the only third-party request DotRot makes. Google describes its handling of these requests in the Google Fonts privacy FAQ. Once you have loaded DotRot, the fonts are cached and the request is not repeated.

Analytics

DotRot does not currently use analytics. No cookies are set and no usage is recorded.

Advertising

DotRot does not currently display advertising. If that changes, this page will be updated before any advert appears, and will name the advertising provider, describe the cookies it sets, and explain how to opt out.

Children

DotRot is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.

Your rights

Because no personal data is collected or held, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. The data described above is on your device and entirely under your control.

Changes

Any change to this page will be reflected in the date at the top. The revision history is public in the project's repository.
